As Comptroller of the Treasury he will offer exceptional, seasoned, worldly advice to Governor Erlich and Lt. Gov. Steele on financial matters from tax collection to budgeting, spending to return, and revenue generation from major legitimate activities without risk.

His experience in Maryland politics extends from runs for Senate nomination against first Tom Blair, a businessman, then Alan Keyes in a special election in 1988 and 1992. 1996, Gene entered to assess name recognition for a 1998 run and found 20+% without much effort.

In 1998, Louis Goldstein and Gene talked about running for Comptroller. After Wm. D. Schaefer remarked in June-“he would run because no one else would, Gene decided to be Republican Comptroller.

He returned last weekend from initial meetings to set up a global conference with the Russian Federation's Institute for Nature Protection.

Maryland's budget approaches $20 Billion this cycle and all of it comes from the private sector - trust me on that. There is no other source except the shell games in the Legislature.

You cannot listen to career Politicians or bureaucrats who made their wealth on taxpayer revenues unless the earned it in the private sector instead of inheriting it. They think your money whether its paid to the Feds, to the State or to your county and city grows on their trees.
